Chibita Banzai (チビ太ばんざい) was a spinoff of Osomatsu-kun that ran through 1966 in the appendix book of Shogakukan's 3rd Grade magazine.
Unlike most features being credited to "Fujio Akatsuka and Fujio Pro", Akatsuka's assistant Kunio Nagatani was wholly responsible for this series. The credits were instead put as "Kunio Nagatani and Fujio Pro".
Overview[]
This short-term series consists of short 7-8 page stories revolving around Chibita's adventures and interactions with other characters (including Sonota from Nagatani's "The Numbness of Scatan").
Although it has never been reprinted, the National Diet Library's collections database confirms its existence as part of the magazine.
Serialization[]
- 3rd Grade (Shogakukan): June to October 1966, December 1966
The July issue, although part of the series, had its chapter simply billed as "Osomatsu Theatre".
The August issue also came with an extra feature titled "Chibita's Fishing University" (チビ太のつり大学).
In the end, Chibita Banzai would be replaced by the Akatsuka series Kikanpo Gen-chan for the following year.
