Plot of "Totoderella"[]

Totoderella (Totoko) is a maid-like figure treated harshly by her ugly step-mother (Osomatsu) and step-sisters (Choromatsu and Todomatsu). Instead of lamenting on her situation, Totoderella handles her situation with brutal honesty, and she often berates the other three as "ugly" people. At one point, she thinks laundry for them useless and proceeds to rub the sisters' faces instead.

When the family receives an invitation from the prince and go to the castle, they leave Totoderella behind. Totoderella does not take offense and only comments to herself on the relationship between the sisters' appearances and personalities (both of which appear to be ugly). At this time, a wizard (Jyushimatsu) appears and tries to offer means for Totoderella to attend the party, including making a carriage out of a pumpkin; as well as a horse (Karamatsu) and a human driver (Ichimatsu), both transformed from mice. However, Totoderella expresses distrust against the transport arrangement (she prefers a taxi), and also complains her outfit. The wizard ends up draining all the magical power from the attempt to change Totoderella's outfit. Totoderella, blankly thanking the wizard, decides to go to the party in her original clothes.

As she arrives at the castle, she finds the other participants ugly, while everyone elses beats Totoderella for daring to appear in less-than-modest clothing, as well as belittling them. Nevertheless, the Prince (Nyaa]]), accompanied by the monarch (Dekapan) and the prime minister (Dayon), finds Totoderella beautiful and invites her for a dance.

After that, the Prince asks for Totoderella's hand, but Totoderella is annoyed by his apparent assumption that she should be happy. She becomes angry after the Prince proceeds to denounce his other guests as ugly, and criticizes the Prince's motive of inviting so many people whom he actually despises, declaring that he's stupid and self-centered. This angers the monarch and the prime minister, who proceeds to unleash a horde of knights on Totoderella.

Totoderella single-handedly defeats the knights, and threatens the Prince that she should be the one to choose her spouse instead. Having his pants wet, the Prince presents all his belongings to prove his worth. It's at this time Totoderella gets to wear a decent dress and the legendary glass shoes.

As Totoderella finally agrees the Prince's invitation, the clock hits 8 p.m. (20:00) and Totoderella decides to go, claiming that she has a facial appointment. She also wraps all the Prince's belongings before going, claiming her wish to use the wealth for "building a new kingdom". This causes the guards and other guests (including Totoderella's family) to go after her. Once again, Totoderella defeats everyone in pursuit.

As she drops a glass shoe on the stairs, she decides to leave the other behind as well. The segment ends as the Prince throws the shoes on the ground in resentment.

The End

Trivia[]

  • Totoderella is the second instance (after Osomatsu-san Returns!) to feature a female-to-male character role reassignment, with Nyaa playing a male character, and is the first to do so without a reciprocal (the previous occurrence had Totoko switching bodies with Choromatsu). Previously, most reassignments of this kind are male-to-female, and three or four of the Sextuplets (Osomatsu, Choromatsu, Todomatsu and possibly Jyushimatsu) still assume female roles in the story.
  • Totoderella explores another fan-shipping involving Nyaa, this time with Totoko. While they have the same gender in their original form, Totoderella switches Nyaa's gender to better align with the story.
    • Both Just Don't and Totoderella involve Nyaa growing affection for the other main character, and both stories end with rejections. However, Nyaa herself called it off at the end of Just Don't, while in Totoderella Nyaa gets rejected.
  • Episodes 21 of both Season 2 and Season 3 involve character gender reassignments, but Totoko and Ichimatsu are free from the treatment on both occasions.
  • Despite appearing (as a mouse, then a horse), Karamatsu has no speaking role.
  • All characters appearing in this episode are credited in their original names, despite a few characters (Iyami, Chibita, Totoko and Nyaa) having specific role names in their respective appearances.
